  • In November 2024, Dr. Kim Wilbanks announced her retirement after serving 19 years as superintendent of Jonesboro Public Schools (JPS). Her dedicated leadership will conclude at the end of the 2024-25 school year, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the district. For the first time in nearly two decades, the JPS Board of Education is embarking on a search for a new superintendent to guide the district into the future.

    This fall, under the Board’s direction, JPS launched a comprehensive engagement process to update the district’s strategic plan, core values, and strategic priorities. This initiative brought together input from staff, students, families, and community members, ensuring that diverse voices shaped the district's vision. The insights gathered from this process helped define not only the superintendent profile but also the priorities and values that will guide JPS in its next phase of growth and success.

    The JPS Board is dedicated to maintaining transparent communication and fostering community involvement throughout this important transition. To ensure a comprehensive and transparent process, the Board has engaged Education Partners to lead the superintendent search.
