For years the iPad has been considered more of a consumption device rather than one for productivity.  Recent OS updates are helping to change that mindset, and iPad OS 13 is a "game changer" for the iPad.  One of the biggest improvements is that Safari now acts like a desktop browser rather than a mobile browser, helping to give a more computer like experience while using the iPad. 

The Ipad OS 13.4 update included a huge improvement in compatibility for keyboards and mouse support.
