Questions from parents/staff we have been asked going forward:
1. What if we need a computer to complete our online assignments? Are any available?
We are currently working on a plan to provide devices to parents and students who make a request for a device. This information should be available soon.
2. Where can we get Internet access?
In addition to the email sent yesterday with information about getting Suddenlink Internet, we are currently in communication with Verizon Wireless about obtaining some hot spots for buses and/or public areas where students could access the internet. We'll also be compiling a list of locations where public internet access is available.
3. Will we still have prom, graduation, spring musicals, etc?
We are considering events on a case by case basis and making decisions daily. At this point, we are cancelling all spring musicals and school performances scheduled in the Center for Performing Arts though April 30. We are contacting the Embassy Suites regarding prom and will in all likelihood reschedule either at the venue or on our campus to have prom at a later date. We are awaiting guidance from DESE on graduation.
4. What about standardized testing?
We have not received exact information from Department of Education on testing, but know that President Trump announced there will be no spring standardized testing. AP students will have an opportunity to take Advanced Placement tests to secure college credit. Students will receive more information in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your patience in this fluid situation.
