Two JKC teachers were awarded grants from the JPS Foundation. Jackie Boyd, JKC Music Teacher, and Hanne Pelletier, JKC Art Teacher, were each awarded grants to fund proposed projects.
Mrs. Boyd secured funding to purchase Tubano drums for the Music Room. With these drums, JKC students will learn about drum circles, learn rhythmic patterns and create new improvational patterns as well. They will then be able to incorporate those new rhythms into learning new words and sounds.
Mrs. Pelletier secured funding to purchase dry erase surfaces for the Art Room. This will allow students to practice their artwork on an eraseable surface before drawing their final artwork. This plan will help relieve anxiety about art and help students be more confident in drawing their final piece of art.
Both teachers will have their new plans in place by the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
